The Vaporzinho de Itapuã is a small steam vessel about 15 metres long, found by fishermen around the first half of the 2000s, about 2 nautical miles from Itapuã beach, immortalised in the verses of Vinícius de Moraes and Toquinho. Why she sank is unknown, but the boat went down in sailing position, with her bow pointing toward land, which suggests the crew tried to bring her to the beach. The intact boiler makes it possible to rule out an explosion as the cause of the sinking. The name was given by the diver who documented the wreck, whose first dive on it was in 2013.
The hull is almost entirely destroyed, but the bow still stands upright, and the boiler, steam engine, shaft and propeller remain practically intact.
