Saco do Urubu

On the boat ride to the archipelago, bottlenose dolphins, Bryde's whales and even humpback whales are commonly seen. Saco do Urubu lies on Ilha dos Búzios, home to a traditional caiçara community that lives from artisanal fishing and from growing cassava and bananas. At Ilha dos Búzios, the water averages around 22 °C throughout the year and can reach 27 °C between mid-January and the arrival of autumn. In early summer, thermoclines occasionally occur along this coast, bands of extremely cold water in the water column.
