Brazil
The Rio Verde, which is part of the Amazon Basin, forms a small cove with a tiny island in the area of the balneário. The drift follows a branch of the river that runs into the forest and makes a loop of almost 360°, returning to the main channel, and a 100 m trail leads back to the start.
There are not many large fish: you usually find traíras and trairões, along with lambaris, many other small fish and the vegetation on the riverbed. On a night dive under the balneário's waterfall, the torchlight reflects off the foam and trairões can be seen.
Campo Novo do Parecis lies in a transition zone between the cerrado and the forest, with emerald-green rivers and many rapids in the Chapada dos Parecis. On the banks of the Rio Verde lies the Aldeia Wazare, of the Haliti-Pareci people, whose name honors a great mythical leader of the past.
