Brazil
Because it lies in the town centre, Prainha is the first beach you see when arriving in Arraial do Cabo by land. The site is recommended for night diving, and since there are fishermen on the rocky shore, it is worth carrying a knife to cut lines and nets.
Marine life is varied: there are always moray eels, Brazilian electric rays (treme-treme), squids and octopuses, and lobsters, slipper lobsters and rays are frequently found. Curious species also turn up, such as the sea urchin Plagiobrissus grandis.
In Arraial do Cabo, the best time to dive tends to be from April to October. At certain times of the year, penguins tend to appear on the region's beaches and whales along the coast.
