Praia Virgem, about 4 km from the Centro of Rio das Ostras, is popular with people who fish and dive. It lies between Praia das Areias Negras and Praia da Joana, has rocks on both sides and preserves restinga vegetation with many native trees. Opposite the beach, near Ilha do Costa, lies Ilha Laje Fora, a formation of flat rock slabs.
