Brazil
Horseshoe-shaped, Praia do Português resembles a natural pool, and the color of the water alternates between green and blue.
The name honors the businessman Humberto de Souza Carvalho, born on Madeira Island, in Portugal, who built the beach. He chose the area because the Félix hillside reminded him of Madeira Island, where he was born and spent his childhood. About 150 truckloads of rock were removed from the rocky shore.
In the 1970s, before the beach existed, a veteran Ubatuba diver used to dive at night along this rocky shore and catch lobsters and octopuses by hand.
