Praia do Cedro do Sul has rich marine life. It is the beach in Ubatuba closest to Ilha do Mar Virado, which can be seen in full on the horizon from there. The beach is tucked into the rocky shore, past the rocky stretch of Prainha da Deserta, and at high tide the sea covers its strip of sand. Local residents use the Cedro bay to farm mussels.
On the stretch of the Trilha das Sete Praias between Praia da Fortaleza and Cedro do Sul lie the ruins of an old school. Cedro do Sul and the neighboring beaches along the trail tend to have calm waters for most of the year. In Ubatuba, summer is usually the best time to dive, with warmer waters.
