Brazil
At Praia de Gaibu, the reefs form natural pools at low tide, which are popular for bathing. At the northern end of the beach, the reefs that begin at neighbouring Enseada dos Corais continue and leave this stretch semi-sheltered. Diverse fauna and flora develop on Gaibu's fringing reefs.
The beach's name comes from the Tupi-Guarani "Aybu", meaning Valley of the Water Spring. In the past, Gaibu served as a landing port for enslaved people.
