At Praia da Enseada, boats and schooners stay very close to the sand, because the bay makes mooring easy. A local legend recalls that people of old were afraid of meeting the Lobisomem, the Mula sem Cabeça and the Boitatá on the path from Enseada to the town centre.
From the far right end of Enseada you reach Praia da Santa Rita, another place also sought out for diving. From the left corner, about a 5-minute walk along a trail, lies Prainha da Enseada, regarded as an ideal spot for freediving.
In Ubatuba, summer tends to be regarded as the best time to dive, with warmer water.
