In 2017, Portinho Sul was the most dived site in the Abrolhos Marine National Park. Its rocky shore is home to varied corals and sponges. Rays, barracudas and turtles are among the most regular visitors, and moray eels are seen out of their holes while hunting. Surgeonfish also appear, and the sandy bottom holds squid, molluscs and crustaceans.
