The BR-265 bridge was built in the 1960s. Since January 30, 2026, it has been partially closed to vehicles over 3.5 tonnes after structural damage was found, and a new bridge is planned for 2027. Underwater, the descent is a slope of about 45 degrees with a few rocks, down to a bottom of nothing but sand, which calls for good buoyancy so as not to stir up sediment. In the region, the best time to dive tends to be from July to December.
