Ponta d'Água lies in a small open bay and has served as a scientific study area. Marine life includes colorful fish, turtles and corals. Here, the cleaner goby Elacatinus figaro lives alongside the black sea urchin Echinometra lucunter and shelters among its spines.
In the Arraial do Cabo region, diving usually takes place all year round, and boat trips depend more on the wind than on the weather. The best time in the region is usually from April to September, with calmer seas and fewer tourists, and it can extend into October.
