Brazil
At low tide, pools form among the rocks of Carapibus beach, in Conde, where you can watch fish and corals. The clear water lets you see small colorful fish swimming around you.
Carapibus, like Tabatinga, has abrasion terraces and limestone blocks that reach the beach. At Carapibus loose rocks are common, along with many crevices and holes.
The sponge Halichondria (Halichondria) marianae, described as a new species in 2018, has as its holotype a specimen collected on Carapibus beach. Specimens from Carapibus also served as holotypes for other potential new sponge species in the genera Gelliodes, Calyx and Mycale. The sponge Mycale escarlatei, thin and encrusting and red when alive, has also been recorded at Carapibus.
