Piscina da Prainha lies in São José da Coroa Grande, Pernambuco, within the APA Costa dos Corais, and the town's name comes from the crown-shaped sandbanks that appear at low tide next to the natural pools. The natural pools of São José da Coroa Grande lie about 600 m from the coast, much closer than those of Maragogi, and have a gravel bottom. These pools in the town hold marine life and a variety of corals.
