A traditional bathing area of Porto de Pedras, Piscina da Barreta was made official in 2018 as the municipality's Bathing Area II. In the Costa dos Corais APA, the natural pools have traditional tourist use and were historically used by local communities.
The pool also appears under another name: Piscina do Poço da Véia, or Poço da Velha. The zoning proposed in 2017 divided the pool into a bathing area, an anchoring area and a diving area, while the neighbouring Piscina do Araçá had only bathing and anchoring. Under the proposal, the bathing area would measure 6,763 m²; the area delimited in 2018 ended up with about 5,777 m² and a 385 m perimeter.
