The Phoenix is a 30.35 m steel tugboat, built in 1981 by the Mac Laren shipyard and deliberately sunk on 8 February 2017, by opening its sea valves, to form an artificial reef in the Parque de Naufrágios Artificiais de Pernambuco. She was sunk on the same day as the tugboats Bellatrix and São José, and the three were placed at the same spot, just a few meters from one another, in a sinking recorded by underwater cameras. The tug sits in navigational position and is well preserved, and you can see the superstructure with the command room, the funnel and the rudder. For the Recife wrecks, the best season tends to be September to December, when the water tends to be calmer and clearer, and from December the sea usually starts to get rougher.
