Pedra do Anel lies about 800 m from Praia Vermelha. To get there, it is best to go by stand-up paddle or rowing, or to be a strong swimmer. On Rio's underwater trails, the clear-water season usually runs from February to April, and the first two months tend to be the best, with calm seas and mild water. There is a photograph of Pedra do Anel taken between around 1885 and 1895, on a glass plate negative, now in the public domain.
