The Parrachos de Muriú are a coral formation about 5 km long, 1 km off the coast of Muriú. It is said that the popular name "Buraco da Velha" dates back to the early 20th century, when the elderly mothers of the fishermen would take a catraia, a small boat, out to the parrachos to bathe hidden from the men. On 4 November 2021, Municipal Law No. 2,087 declared the Parrachos de Muriú Tangible/Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ceará-Mirim.
