Brazil
Parcel da Ponta Oeste is made up of large rocks and stretches from the shoreline to the sandy bottom, heading southwest, with turtles present. Ilha dos Búzios is home to a traditional caiçara community that lives from artisanal fishing and from growing cassava and bananas. On the boat ride to the Búzios archipelago it is common to spot bottlenose dolphins, Bryde's whales and even humpback whales. In Búzios, the water usually averages around 22 °C throughout the year and can reach 27 °C from mid-January until the arrival of autumn. In early summer, thermoclines may occur in the region, bands of extremely cold water in the water column.
