Brazil
Parcel da Pedra Lisa is a large reef surrounded by sandy bottom, with many holes and crevices that gather plenty of marine life. On the boat ride to the archipelago, bottlenose dolphins, Bryde's whales and even humpback whales are commonly seen. Ilha dos Búzios is home to a traditional caiçara community that lives from artisanal fishing and from growing cassava and bananas. In the region, the water usually stays around 22 °C and can reach 27 °C from mid-January until the arrival of autumn. In early summer, thermoclines occasionally occur along this coast, layers of very cold water within a certain band of the water column.
