Brazil
The Paulista sank on 26 June 1913, while coming from Paranaguá loaded with hardwood. Records differ on the cause, which appears as a broken rudder shaft followed by a collision with the rocks near Ilha das Cocas, as a fire, as striking a rock slab, or as a hull broken open by her own propeller. There were no casualties: the whole crew was saved, and the ship carried no passengers. Located in the early 1980s, the wreck's mark was lost and it was only found again in 1997, by divers from Rio and Campinas. In the hold, logs from the timber cargo can still be seen stacked against the side, and a large horizontal boiler dominates the center of the wreck.
