Brazil
The ship was built by Dundee S. B. Co. and launched as Rudy; in 1907 it was bought by Companhia de Navegação Rio de Janeiro, adapted for coastal shipping and renamed Guanabara. It was returning from Aracaju to Rio de Janeiro with 10,000 sacks of sugar and 27 crew members when, in the early hours of 3 April 1911, in poor visibility, it struck the reef running parallel to the old Ubu beach and ran aground. The crew reached the beach safely. The wreck gave its name to Guanabara beach, formerly called Ubu. The bow sticks out of the water, and among the wreckage there is an upside-down winch and two small boilers.
