Brazil
The Carolina was being unloaded when a storm broke her moorings; adrift, the ship was thrown by the waves against the rocks. That same night, her crew rescued the occupants of a Public Health launch that had been hurled onto the rocks, but two of the launch's employees, a father and son, went missing.
The ship was carrying Singer sewing machines and assorted cargo, and the Singer machines alone were worth 40 contos de réis.
Today, what remains of the Carolina is a large upright boiler with scattered pieces of iron around it. The boiler gathers a great deal of marine life, and the broken-up wreck shelters good diversity.
