Brazil
Surrounded by forest, Lago Verde opens into three arms, with places to swim among fish and spot wildlife. Unlike much of the Amazon basin, it is quite green inside, with plenty of aquatic plants and submerged terrestrial plants. Praia do Amor has the Tapajós River on one side and Lago Verde on the other, where the submerged trees catch the eye. In an igarapé that forms a natural trail, you can swim among many aquatic species that are largely unafraid of people. A family of monkeys lives in the surroundings.
The Floresta Encantada usually appears during the Amazonian winter, the flood season that can run from February to July. At that time of year, the river usually rises to the point where visitors paddle at the height of the treetops. The tour through the forest is done in small rowing boats, with no engine noise, so that the sound of the forest and the birds prevails. In the dry season, you can generally reach only the first part of the route, where the vegetation is more open, and the forest's aquatic labyrinth is usually within reach during the Amazonian winter.
