Brazil
Ilha do Pau a Pino is actually made up of two islands, about 2 km east of Ilha Grande, near Ponta Grossa. It is a bare rock with no vegetation, with slopes that drop vertically into the sea and a ridge of rocks extending to the southwest. In 2017, the island held the Pau a Pino light, a white cylindrical masonry tower.
Underwater, the island is home to rich marine life and fish of different species. In the Ilha Grande region, spring and summer, from September to April, are usually considered the best time to dive, with warmer water and sunny weather. For diving and snorkelling at Ilha Grande, the recommended period is usually October to March, when the sea is warmer.
