On 22 August 1895, the head of the Carta Marítima asked the Minister of the Navy for a lighthouse on the tip of Ilha da Raposa, which would serve as a reference for ships bound for the port of Guarapari, then the most important port south of Vitória, from which monazite sand was exported until 1940. After a commission, however, the lighthouse ended up being installed on Ilha Escalvada. Underwater, the dive goes among large rocks and corals, with several species of fish, and dolphins and sharks show up from time to time. Around the island you can also see the remains of the wreck of the steamer Bepo.
