Brazil
Fenda is narrow, elongated and dimly lit. It has two openings: one in the ceiling, on the inner side of the reef, which is exposed at low tide, and another underwater, on the outer edge of the ring. In this hidden setting with little water movement, a 1999 survey found the highest sponge diversity and density in the atoll, with 70.4 individuals per m².
