Brazil
Enseada dos Corais is a beach that was once called Praia do Boto. Of its roughly 2.5 km of shoreline, about 1.7 km is exposed to the open sea and about 800 m is semi-sheltered by the nearshore reefs, which form natural pools at low tide. These reefs are an intertidal sandstone reef (beachrock) and continue to the south, semi-sheltering the northern end of neighboring Gaibu beach.
The reef is home to many forms of life, including fish such as the sergeant major (Abudefduf saxatilis). Between 2010 and 2011, recruitment of juvenile sergeant majors was higher during the low tourist season. Fishing here is done with set nets, cast nets, lines and diving.
The beach tends to draw many visitors on weekends, especially in summer, from December to February. In the region, the rainy season usually runs from March to August, and the dry season from September to February.
