In the northwest of Trindade, cliffs of almost 300 m drop down to the natural dikes known as Orelhas. Sponges and polychaetes dominate the walls and ceiling of the canyon, and the sponges recorded include Aiolochroia crassa, Plakinastrella microspiculifera, Topsentia ophiraphidites and a white Chondrosia. At Trindade, diving depends heavily on favorable weather and sea conditions, and longer stays on the island, in the seasons with more favorable weather, are recommended.
