Encanto Azul lies on the Cocal River, in the municipality of Riachão. Although Riachão shares the area of Chapada das Mesas National Park, Encanto Azul lies in a private reserve, outside the national park.
The crystal-clear water, described in December 2019 as having a pleasant temperature, lets you swim while watching the fish. The most intense blue appears when the sun shines straight into the pool, roughly from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the rays touching the bottom make the fish easier to see.
Visits tend to be best from May to September, in the dry season, with better roads, clearer water and more intense colors, while from December to March the rains can cloud the water. The road there used to be sand and could only be driven by 4x4, but the municipality covered it with gravel and, in December 2019, a regular car could make the trip.
