The site is named after the Clube de Golfe de Brasília, which was already planned in Lúcio Costa's Plano Piloto and was officially founded on 11 March 1964. On the bottom next to the club, you can sometimes find a "nest" of golf balls lost by inexperienced golfers. The name Paranoá comes from the Tupi Paranãkûá, "sea inlet". In Lake Paranoá, the water tends to be clearer in the dry season, from May to September, when the dust settles.
