Brazil
On the sandy bottom next to the rocky shore of Canal dos Pescadores, rays and moray eels can be seen. Swimming southwest, towards the middle of the channel, the sandy bottom gradually gives way to scattered reef patches.
Ilha da Vitória is home to a traditional caiçara community that lives from artisanal fishing. Dives around Ilha da Vitória reveal turtles, rays and a wide variety of fish. On the boat ride to the archipelago it is common to spot bottlenose dolphins, Bryde's whales and even humpback whales.
In the region, the water averages around 22 °C and can reach 27 °C between mid-January and the beginning of autumn. Thermoclines may occur in early summer.
