Brazil
On Ilha de Santa Bárbara, Caldeiros faces west and is part of the so-called canal da barracuda. The reef at this site has a steep slope, from 50°, unlike the gentle slopes of Porto Norte and Porto Sul. The site has fringe corals and brain corals. Surgeonfish, groupers, barracudas, angelfish, moray eels, snappers, turtles, lobsters and pufferfish are also found. In Abrolhos, the sea tends to be clearer from December to February, and from December to April the waters tend to be warmer, a period that tends to be the best for diving in the region.
