Peixe-galo, groupers, rays and enxadas are frequently seen at Cabeço do Leandro. In 2013, it was the only one among the reefs studied where stony corals were as dense as the sponges, it had the greatest abundance of coral colonies, and it was also the richest in invertebrates. The reef is part of an alignment of reefs, together with Barreirinhas, Mestre Vicente, Pedra do Félix and Meros, associated with ancient shorelines.
