Maldives
Wella Giri has the classic structure of a Maldivian giri, with a sandy hill on the southern side and steep reefs to the north. The coral-covered slopes host snappers, fusiliers and several moray eels. Glassfish shimmer near the coral blocks, while lionfish, scorpionfish and stonefish lie in wait. In the sandy areas, baby sharks can be seen searching for food. Divers who visited Dhaalu in 2022 report that the atoll was little known among divers and that they rarely saw boats from other islands at the sites.
