Egypt
Walking got its name because the distance to the pinnacle makes you want to walk it instead of swimming. Between the reef and the pinnacle, coral patches are scattered over the white sand. The wall of the pinnacle is covered with soft corals, with many glass fish, and sharks are often seen. On the outer side of the Abu Galawa Kebir reef, large schools of snapper and bannerfish can be seen among coral gardens. In the local language, 'Galawa' means pools and 'Abu' means father, and any large reef with pools inside is called 'father of pools'. Abu Galawa Kebir is a popular overnight stop for liveaboard boats.
