The sandy floor of the channel is often full of grey, white-tip and silver-tip reef sharks. On the inner wall, turtles graze among the corals, and eagle rays appear as well. On 18/02/2020, the dive at Vodamulaa Kandu was a highlight of the day for the green turtles sighted.
In the currents of Huvadhoo's channels, silkies and silvertips are seen, while leopard sharks and nurse sharks take shelter. Huvadhoo's outermost reefs form a discontinuous barrier of 40 reef segments separated by deep channels.
In Huvadhoo, the best time to dive is usually the northeast monsoon, from January to May. For sharks, the best season in the region usually runs from January to April.
