Maldives
In the blue water, rainbow runners and a school of bigeye trevally appear, and on the coral heads of the channel there are schools of five-line snapper, oriental sweetlips, bannerfish, squirrelfish and shy gropers. A school of collared butterflyfish has also been seen and, on the same dive, spinner dolphins passing by in successive groups. In the Meemu region there is a chance of seeing manta rays all year round: the deep channels to the east and west sweep plankton-rich water into the lagoon, which attracts mantas and, occasionally, whale sharks.
