Egypt
The name The Quay comes from the half-submerged remains of an old jetty (quay) on the western side of the peninsula, where the only sheltered mooring in the area is located. On day trips to Ras Mohammed, boats stop there at lunchtime because it is a calm spot.
Just offshore from the beach, the reef is teeming with fish. On the Ras Mohammed peninsula, strong currents carry large amounts of plankton, which favours the growth of hard and soft corals and attracts large schools of reef and pelagic fish.
