Egypt
The name comes from an old shoe nailed to a wooden stump that marked the entry point for guides, a marker removed long ago. The Bedouins call the site 'bachhacha', which means 'spray water' in Arabic: in strong wind the site is exposed to very choppy waves and is only dived in good conditions. The table corals shelter anthias, parrotfish, yellow tailed barracudas and sweetlips, and giant napoleons are often sighted. There are lionfish around the entry area and a seagrass bed where seahorses can often be found.
