Maldives
The site is home to nurse sharks, lemon sharks, goat fish, stone fish, stingrays and turtles. Lemon sharks appear almost every day between 12:00 and 18:00, at the western end of Ukulhas. Besides the sharks, stingrays, eagle rays and other types of sharks appear. Those who prefer not to get in the water can watch the sharks from the northern jetty at Ukulhas.
Ukulhas is well known for its cleanliness and waste management, and is regarded as the first island in the Maldives with systematic waste management. In 2014, the island received the Green Leaf award for protecting and preserving the environment.
