Egypt
Shaira is the name the Bedouin give to a large stretch of coastline that encompasses several dive sites. The site lies south of The Caves, beyond where the road ends, and is only accessible in calm seas; the trip takes about 45 minutes.
Mountain-shaped corals rise up and form a maze of hard and soft corals. A narrow, winding canyon covered in corals runs parallel to the shore.
There is a great variety of corals and many fish, with tuna, sweetlips and humpback snappers standing out. Heading towards Coral Forest, a satellite reef of pristine corals often hosts a large school of yellowtail barracudas, and if you are lucky feathertail or bluespotted stingrays have also been spotted.
