Part of the Shaab Sheer reef system, Shaab Sheer Soraya is among the southernmost reefs in Safaga and is suited to relaxed dives and macro photography. Almost circular in shape, the reef is surrounded by coral gardens.
The site is known for its large population of Red Sea bannerfish, concentrated mainly on the northeast side of the reef. Aggregations of masked butterflyfish can also be seen.
The wreck of the Salem Express lies about 1¼ km to the east, and the Shaab Sheer lighthouse about 2 km to the northwest. In the Safaga region, summer tends to bring the warmest water, and spring and autumn the most comfortable air; it is usually the wind that determines which reefs are accessible in each season.
