Egypt
Shaab Claude sees little diving, but it is relatively well known for lying close to the Salem Express wreck. The reef is small, and its highlight is a narrow channel, just a few metres, between the main reef and a detached block. Around the channel there are rubble fields where octopuses are often seen.
On the southern block there are large gorgonians and an overhang with longnose hawkfish. A big coral head covered in soft corals gathers moray eels and, sometimes, eagle rays. The coral garden has gorgonians and black corals. Around the reef there are schools of bannerfish and sweetlips, and in the gardens and on the top there are triggerfish, parrotfish, tangs and unicornfish.
In the Safaga region, diving usually takes place all year round, and it is the wind that tends to decide which reefs are open in each season.
