The name Shaab Said means 'happy corals'. The sites in the Gabr el Bint area, Sha'ab Said among them, were discovered on Said's first camel diving safari.
The reef forms two lagoons and lies next to a small 'Blue Hole'; at high tide, the guide may take you for a brief look into it. There is a hard coral labyrinth with small caves and passages to swim through, and the dive is one-way, heading north.
Along the way there are schools of damselfish, barracudas and surgeonfish. Two resident turtles are almost always seen, and octopuses, squids, garfish, many butterfly fish and sailfin doctor fish also appear above the corals.
