The name Relittino, Italian for "little wreck", comes from a small felucca that sank at the site. The dive is also suited to the compass navigation specialty.
Relittino is home to lionfish and albino moray eels, sometimes dozens of them together. The algae at the spot make it a shelter for many bottom-dwelling fish. Photos taken here have won international photography championships.
In 1995, the reef system around Makadi Bay was classified as a protected area, and dive centers in the region must follow strict environmental laws. Based on water temperature, the best time at the Fort Arabesque reef usually runs from mid-May to the end of November, and early in the morning the sea tends to be calmer.
