Egypt
The 360 m wide bay of Ras Torombi is usually the first stop, with a checkout dive, for liveaboards heading to the southern Egyptian Red Sea. At the entry point there are several coral blocks and a garden of soft and hard corals, where snapper, Napoleon wrasse, turtles, tuna, scorpionfish and many batfish can be seen. With a bit of luck, you might spot a dugong in the lagoon. As the bay has a seagrass bottom, divers usually stick to the reef walls, and the northern side is a good place to see some of the more unusual Red Sea creatures, such as burrfish.
