Maldives
The wall on the southern side is carpeted with soft corals and sponges. In the north there are numerous overhangs, with moray eels, shrimp, scorpionfish and dragonfish. King mackerels and tunas roam in the open water. In the region, the monsoon usually runs from May to November, a period when the wind tends to increase and the sea to get choppier; anyone planning to dive around June should check with the dive company, because the sea can sometimes be too rough for boats.
