Maldives
Orimas Thila is sometimes called Maagaa Thila, after the island of Maagaa to the north.
The northern side of the reef, about 100 m long, has a narrow crack on the top and a long cave that meanders along the reef. This cave is covered in a fine, weed-like soft coral, sea fans and black coral bushes. In the southeast there is another cave, with black coral and nudibranchs.
There are sea anemones all over the reef, with a large concentration on the east side. Schools of blue triggerfish and blue-striped snapper stay at the western end, and on top there are fire coral, staghorn coral and large table corals. There are fish of every kind, most noticeably flutemouth.
