Maldives
The site lies on the outside corner of Thilafushi, known as Trash Island, where Malé's refuse dump is located. Thilafushi was originally a lagoon called Thilafalhu, 7 km long, and became an artificial island by government decision in 1991, to serve as Malé's landfill. Scientific collections in 1995 recorded at the site the flatworm Pseudoceros susanae and the sea slugs Aplysia parvula, in its dark form, and Tambja amakusana.
